Pop Goes the Cardinal
During the last quarter of 2016 I began experimenting with photographing the birds in my yard in the same manner as I was photographing botanicals. On new year’s eve of that year I set up this teal background with the full intention of shooting a cardinal against it. Following an opening act of chickadees and titmice the headliner of the evening finally took the stage—and a star was born. I usually print and frame him with a square crop of just his head and body. This is the first time he’s been framed at 4:5 showing his legs and feet.
2016 / Stockton, NJ
The frame is made from an old stock of rough sawn tongue and groove pine that was left over from a barn renovation in Pipersville, PA.
Giclee print on velvet fine art paper: 8” X 10”
Frame Size: 10.25” X 12.25”
